JOHANNESBURG ACADEMY

CLIENT L'Oréal  / 2015

SURFACE 200 m²

The space layout, 200 sqm is based on the rule of golden ratio. For centuries this formula was used to create the most beautiful pieces of architecture and design.

The Mixed use layout represents the use of an adaptable space for a set of complementary activities.

Perimeter paths allow to use the retail, the services, and the “social interactive area” in a succession of inner/outer exchange actions.

The Showcase layout represents one of the several possibilities of modular space. This time the Academy becomes an open area for meetings and fashion shows. This solution allows to accomodate up to 150 persons. The stairs and the sculpture wall are the frames for the fashion shows. The “stage” is fully visible from the street.

During the fashion shows and meetings the second floor is dedicated to directors, audio/video engineers, stylists and models. On other days it can also be used by guests, photographers and simply as storage.

The Practice layout illustrates a busy situation when the Academy is used as a practice area. Hairdressers and students/customers work with each other. The transparency of the facade let the space stay in constant interaction with the street.
